Current Joys is the solo project of Nick Rattigan, co-founder of garage-pop band Surf Curse. Since debuting with the self-recorded Wild Heart in 2013, Rattigan has evolved from lo-fi, post-punk-inflected bedroom recordings to expansive, collaborative indie rock. Highlights include 2021’s Voyager, his first album with a full backing band and professional production, and the two-part LOVE + POP (2023–2024), featuring artists like Lil Yachty and Slow Hollows. In 2024, Current Joys shifted toward dark-hued country and folk with the single “California Rain.” Known for blending brooding lyrics with cinematic influences, Rattigan continues to expand the Current Joys sound with genre-crossing experiments.
